Catering for Diverse Students

 

This page contains further information to assist teachers in providing an engaging and authentic learning experience for all students within the classroom. 

 

This unit incorporates various teaching strategies and learning activities to assist and support all students learning abilities and needs. 

 

Think-Pair-Share Activities - Allows students to think, discuss and share their ideas with their fellow classmates.

 

Cooperative Learning - Students work together in groups to challenge and extend each others learning and thinking. 

 

Connecting to students prior knowledge - At the beginning of each lesson students are given the opportunity to connect with their prior knowledge and revise previous lessons key knowledge and understanding. 

 

Differentiation - Catering for the diverse academic backgrounds present within the class. This unit provides activities and tasks that can be modified to meet the individualised needs of the learners. Students are provided with opportunities to work individually, in pairs and in groups when completing some activities and tasks. 

 

Use of rubric - Refers to the assessment rubric to ensure students understand and know what they are required to do.

 

Actively engages students in self-learning and self-discovery - Students are provided with a series of online and offline tasks to build their own understandings and knowledge of Healthy Eating by participating in various interactive and authentic learning experiences. 

 

Higher Order Thinking - Provide students with activities that engage students in higher order thinking skills
